Trisha and her family have felt at home on the Peninsula since moving here in 2018. Prior to that, they moved approximately every three years between Northern Virgina/Washington, DC, and Europe due to her husband’s job, so they are happy to have landed in what will hopefully be their “forever place!” Trisha and her husband are proud parents of one child who is currently in the “pre-adulting” stage of life while attending college. From a very early age, Trisha knew she wanted to teach young children, so it was a natural choice for her to pursue a BA in Early Childhood Education. Since then, between moving around the world and spending time as a stay-at-home mom, Trisha has taught 1st grade, served as a reading resource teacher for K-3, specializing in Dyslexia, and worked as a preschool teacher for the past three years. In her spare time, Trisha enjoys going on walks and talks with friends, playing with her Golden Retriever, traveling, hiking, and spending quality time with family.

 

Memorable family tradition?

It’s hard to choose just one! While our annual Family Christmas Eve Gingerbread House is an obvious choice, there’s another standout that is especially unique to our family. Many, many moons ago, when we were on our first date, my husband surprised me with a Baskin-Robbins clown cone. It’s just a simple ice cream cone turned upside down with decorated frosting for eyes, a nose, and a mouth, and voila! Suddenly, a simple scoop of ice cream is now full of whimsy! Since then, it has become a tradition in our family, from our wedding night with decorated bride and groom clown cones to birthdays and welcome home parties- clown cones are just our thing! Sadly, Baskin-Robbins doesn’t advertise them anymore, but we still go into the store on occasions and remind them that they used to make these - and someone is always nice enough to make them for us!
